The Bonus Army: In 1932, Vets Seeking Help During the Depression Were Violently Evicted From D.C.

In the spring of 1932, a group of jobless veterans came to DC to try and get relief from the Great Depression. They became known as the Bonus Expeditionary Force and soon, veterans from across the country joined them in Washington. But President Hoover and General Douglas MacArthur wanted them out, and on July 28, 1932, violence erupted in the Capital.
